Translating The Fall Trends

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I've been feeling pretty under the weather this week. But while I was getting my rest in my comfy bed, I was tabbing through the recent Instyle magazine and had a thought...Not everyone feels like they can pull off the fall trends the way the runway suggests. So, here's my take on how to translate a trend through the use of accessories...

Trend: Leopard/Animal Print - Every season we see a few prints that become popular trends. This season animal prints popped up all over the runway. My suggestion is to take a simple black dress that you might wear to work and update it by adding animal print accessories. Here are some examples...

Betsey Johnson heart stud earrings

Kashmere Leopard Scarf

Echo Leopard Ruana - Five Hearts

Tory Burch Leopard Belt

Sondra Roberts Leopard Chain Bag - Five Hearts

Trend: Fur/Shearling - This clothing trend can become bulky as well as expensive to wear. By adding the trend through your accessories, you can buy a few pieces to update your wardrobe rather than one major piece.

Echo Plush Neck Warmer

Echo Faur Fur Neck Warmer

Ugg Australia Leather/Faur Fur Glove

Faur Fur Scarf - The Limited

Or add a really simple fur vest - Eight Sixty $85

Totem Sherpa Boot - Free People

Sam Edelman Faur Fur Boot

Trend: Sequins - Sequins were one of my favorite trends to see this season...Evident through the numerous styles I bought for the store(whoopsy)! Personally, I see them sticking around.  But if you're not interested in making too bold of a statement then some of these accessories might be a better option for you.

Ron Herman Sequin Beanie

Sequin Charm Necklace

Dara Ettinger - Five Hearts

                                                     Sequined Tulle Scarf - Jcrew

      Lauren Merkin Sequined Clutch

Leather - Leather is really here to stay but a leather jacket isn't always for everyone. Here's some other options you could go with...

Add a glimpse of leather by these Dagmar Molly Faux Leather Panel Leggings

Echo Leather Glove

Leather La Mer Watch

Stack em up - Gorjana Leather Wrap Bracelet

Blow the belt - Bergdorf Goodman

I've always been a believer in using trends as inspiration for updating my look each season.  I don't follow them too literally but rather add them into my wardrobe in a way that represents my style best. Have fun with the trends and make them your own!
