I know, I know...

I know. I've been an awful blogger lately. We've been prettyyy busy and that's no excuse but it's the truth!

Anyways, I've been in a good mood since the weather turned warm! Not only because it's finallyyy warm outside but also because we've had sooooooo many new faces in the store. I don't blame any of you for not leaving your houses through the winter but it is so nice to have people strolling the third ward all week long.

I used to think I hated dressing for warm weather but I think I've changed my mind. It takes me far less time to get ready in the morning ( my fiance would probably say otherwise) because I'm enjoying the simple, casual pieces in my closet that make for easy outfits. Today I'm wearing a Bailey 44 romper. They aren't always the most flattering of styles but this particular one has two different fabrics which makes it more wearable.

Mine is actually a gray/slate tone but you get the idea! It's the perfect piece to get me through this humid and hot day!

Mothers Day Gifts!

My mom flooded my email today with pictures of all the Virgin Saints and Angels items we have at the store that are PERFECT for mother's day gifts. Honestly, you really can't get much better than these beautiful necklaces, or a keychain for those looking to spend a little less. Virgin Saints and Angels is an amazing line that tells an amazing story- Kel has told it to all you fashion divas, so i'll skip that part.

Anyways- the accessories are perfect for all types of women. My mom is what I like to call trendy when it comes to style, so she usually opts for the layered necklace like the one below- in fact us girls all gave a very similar one to her for Christmas! The layers give a little flare to the piece making it a fun accessory to pair with an equally fun outfit. But what's really great is you can throw on a v-neck and jeans and still wear it effortlessly looking super casual for a day at the mall. I absolutely love when jewlery can be dressed up or down and this is definitely one of those pieces!  Also- it can be worn by literally any type of woman- whether your mom is a cardigan and jeans gal, or black pants and synched at the waist sweater gal, the necklace will be very easily worn. I especially love the detail on this necklace- it's delicate and looks like an antique piece- which all the VSA items do. We have a lot more styles in the store and would be more than happy to help you pick the perfect one!

Like I said, the keychain is also a super fun accessory. My mom gave one to each of the five sisters (and herself) for christmas and it was such a special present to each of us. That's another reason VSA is such a great line- for some reason the pieces just appear so special. The keychains can be especially great if your mom isn't exactly a jewlery wearer or if your dad usually takes care of that gift ( like my dad does!).  Each key chain has a stone and we personally did stones that were our birthstones which can be special but it's also fun to just do a stone your mom loves!

Comfy in Neon

Soo, I'm pretty obsessed with this whole blog thing, so I'm posting again today : )

Yesterday was my roommate, and best friend Mary's birthday. She is a true dare devil when it comes to fashion- one day she's wearing baggy jeans and a plaid button down, and the next she's rocking ripped tights under jean shorts and a flirty top. For her birthday I decided to fuel her fire and get her a little splash of neon from the store to add to her crazy collection. The price is perfect- just 18 for a spring to summer scarf. I love scarfs because they can truly make an outfit. Throw on a v-neck, a pair of jeans, and put on the comfy scarf and you have it made. This particular scarf, in neon tie die adds a bit of dare and creativity to your outfit, while still remaining casual and relaxed.

The way Mary paired her scarf with a very casual outfit was perfect for a day of classes. Like I said, scarfs are great- in fact, they're my favorite accessory. Even on a lazy day, when the effort to put on a chic outfit isn't there, I can throw on a scarf over my pull over and suddenly the outfit looks put together. We have so many options in the store- for the more conservative fashionistas as well as those trying to add a splash of floral or simple print to their wardrobe! We have it all, so come in and see for yourselves!

Florida Fabulous

Hi all! I'm here to do a little guest blogging, hope you enjoy! :)

The family took a trip down to Florida for easter this past weekend, and with five girls this always means over packing and an hour of throwing on clothes trying to put an outfit together before dinner. It's hectic to say the least and with our Dad being largely outnumbered, he's always known to make us be ready 20 minutes before we actually need to leave. All in all, it's a rush for the last ten minutes trying to find that one shoe or top. I wanted to avoid this all together this year and packed my outfits carefully. My mom has always told us that Rompers are worth the splurge- although often a little pricier they are an entire outfit so there is no trying to decide what shorts go best with what top. I took her advice seriously this trip and stopped in the store Tuesday to purchase this awesome Jenny Han black romper, that fits perfectly to literally any body shape.

Meet Megan ....

I'm going on vaca and intend to relax so my little fashionista sister, Megan, will be guest blogging. She is one of those people who can wear anything and manages to always pull it off. She rarely cares what people think of her fashion choices which is something I think we all wish we could do. All in all, she is a pretty darn good time. I'll come back next week rejuvenated and ready to share a lot :) Until then...Enjoy miss megan!

Weather Blues

Omg. I can't handle this weather any longer. I know we live in Wisconsin but snow in late April is pushing my limit. In the attempt to get me in a better mood, I tried on almost everything in my store...I've been working by myself the past three days, so I was also going a bit stir crazy. ( not that I didn't have work to do or anything ;) Anywhoo, here's the outfit I bought for our wknd in Naples!

Aryn K top ( $66) , James Jean's Twiggy Crop in White ($124) , and Candie's Vivien Platform Wedge ( We don't sell shoes, and I just bought these for like $30 at Kohl's...They're a knock off of Steve Maddens)

Spring is in the air...or not?

I'm putting spring decorations up in the store window right now, but it's a bit depressing as it's gloomy outside right now. I need the beach, sun, and some tropical drink in my hand right about now...Thank goodness for a much needed vacation in two weeks!!! Dreaming...

Fun customers are the best! We get every type of customer in the store...Some don't need much help and some are lost when it comes to fashion and they aren't shy to let you know. I love both! Even when a customer knows what she likes, it's still fun to be able to help her explore different options. A customer, Tricia, came into the store this afternoon and made my day! She has crazy style and was so fun to work with. She tried everything and anything on which really is the best way to find out what you like and what really works for your body type. She said she hasn't been feeling the 'flowly tops' that are on trend right now, but I told her to just try some out anyways. Well, she fell in love! She bought three tops in that style. It's customer like Tricia that make me love my job and are the reason we opened our store.

Yoga wear

I adopted So-Low yoga wear into my life a few years ago and they have yet to fail me. The basic black yoga pant is reasonably priced at $60. It's a little more than you'll find at a target, but these pants literally don't stretch. I put them on the instant I get home and they don't come off until bed time. I rarely do actual yoga/workout in them, haha. But if you haven't tried them out yet...DO IT! I promise you won't be disappointed. They come in fun colors too...

Gotta love a handbag with great style & price tag.

Stripes In Sight

I'm loving all things striped right now...no matter the color palette. Here's my spin on the nautical look today:
I like the look for three reasons 1) it's comfy so I can run around the store easily 2) the statement jacket isn't too trendy 3) the jewelry completely finishes the look off by adding color where needed!

Oxfords on my mind

Oxfords had a slow return but they are back and seem to be one of the top trends right now. We saw them on the runway and the "it" hollywood ladies awhile back but it wasn't until this year that many brands are coming out with options that seem to bea bit more wearable! Yay! My fiance bought me a pair for christmas bc I was swooning over them everytime I saw a pair. I love the ones he choose(pictured below) and am so excited that it's getting warmer so I can actually wear them! Here's how I imagine pulling the outfit together:

BB Dakota fab for fall

Megan and I spent the morning in the BB Dakota showroom on Monday. I've always been a fan of the line but thought it a bit too teen for the store....But this past seasons collection changed my mind completely. The coats and faux-fur vests are beyond amazing. There is beautiful detail in the pieces and the prices are pretty unbeatable. That being said, I'll give you a little sneak peek into a couple of the fall pieces (warning: some of the styling isn't so great)....

Chicago shopping

Off to Chicago for an apparel show. My little sister, Megan, is joining me on the trip! I don't like going alone- it's always nice to have someone elses fashion opinion. Anyways, were looking at a few new lines so I'll be back later today to fill you in :) happy Monday!!!

Friday, March 11

I've never got personal in this blog but I woke up today and thought why not? Why not share a bit more about what goes on behind the scenes in the store and in my life! So here it goes...

One of the hardest parts in owning a clothing store is finding the right brands for your store. There is a TON of designers and unique brands out there but deciding which ones will continually provide quality, unique pieces at reasonable price points can be difficult when you're new in town! Everyone wants to promise you their line is the best... "Kitson, in LA, has reordered this 5 times". Well, that is great for Kitson but my store is in Milwaukee...not the same customer people!!! Clothing reps/ad reps can be a little pushy sometimes and that doesn't mesh well with my personality. I'm not good at saying NO. I will say ( and mj I think you'll agree...), I realized fast the option to say thanks for showing us your line/offering us your pitch but I'm gonna pass this time! I don't why that was so difficult for me...lesson learned though! Anyways, MJ and I have begun to figure this Milwaukee market out and we have weeded out a few lines as well as introduced some new ones to the store. I hope you like them as much we do :) I'll share my new favorite line in the next post...

Rompers on my mind...

Jenny Han is a genius designer. Her pieces are always casual but chic and combine girlish materials with forgiving fits perfectly. The pieces are a bit more pricy ranging between $80 - $160 but they are well worth it. This is the newest piece, a midnight, strapless romper. It's not as short as it seems on the model and I can totally see my self throwing a white casual, flowy cardi over this for daytime in the summer!

Spotlight: Catherine Quirk

So, if you've been in the store recently you would have seen the new and amazing clutches by Catherine Quirk.  Catherine is from Milwnaukee and is in her sophomore year at the fashion institute of technology in NYC. Her clutches are very original and the perfect accessory to spruce up a simple outfit. I have a brown zebra print clutch made by her and I literally use it for just about everything - to go out at night, as a make-up bag, and i've even used it for inside my huge tote during buying trips.

Catherine was also chosen to participate in a competition called Fusion a couple weekends ago. The competition was between FIT and Parsons, and a selection of students had the chance to showcase a five piece collection. She did an amazing job, and the work will be in Elle magazine and Teen Vogue. She made a bunch of clutches to go along with her collection, and you're all lucky enough to have the chance to snag them! They'll be in the store in the next few weeks so look out for them! AND we'll also be showcasing one of her pieces from the competition in our window. A huge congrats to Catherine - We're thrilled for you!!! Below are some images of her designs(more coming soon !)

Splendid/ Ella Moss

I've been in love with the silhouettes of Ella Moss for a long time - a very whimsical, flirty feel. The quality of the brand is lasting.

Splendid is a little less pricey and the brand is known for having relaxed silhouettes and a comfortable feel. We're lucky enough to have scored both brands for spring and summer!
